History repeats itself. The old monarchies and aristocracies were not simply Kings and Queens and everyone else. Every rule was constructed and maintained by scores of lesser nobles tasked with guaranteeing the outsized wealth and power of the ruling royalty.

The appalling thing is that few would clamor for a return to the rule of Aristocracy or Monarchy, even though we essentially have already done so.
