You are in the majority, too. I’ve had the benefit of working in wealthier schools, though I’ve been in the Florida public school system too. One year I was also teaching a few adjunct community college courses and had over 200 students a semester. It was madness.
I kept my own personal numbers low in the essay because I didn’t want those overwhelming numbers of many public (and private) school classrooms to completely swamp any other point I might make. Class size is definitely an issue, but it doesn’t solve the problem, just lessens a few of the symptoms.
